BOAL Group, together with its strategic partner Equistone, acquires Alumat Zeeman

BOAL Group, together with its strategic partner Equistone, acquires Alumat Zeeman. Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed. Alumat Zeeman is a family owned business that has been active in the greenhouse horticulture sector for almost a century. The company innovates, designs and produces greenhouse components, components for ventilation and screening installations and complete systems for ventilation and screening.

BOAL Group, headquartered in Naaldwijk, has 50 years of experience and a leading market position in the design and manufacture of aluminium roofing and sidewall systems for industrial greenhouses. With aluminium extrusion capabilities in the Netherlands and the UK, BOAL focuses on engineering, designing and constructing systems for horticulture. BOAL is expanding its product portfolio in the horticultural sector, so that it can offer better integrated solutions to its customers who design and build complete greenhouse systems. BOAL executes the transaction in partnership with Equistone Partners Europe, one of Europe's leading private equity investors. In the past two years, BOAL - together with Equistone - has added Holland Group Westland and Westnederland Sandwich panels to the group.

Alumat Zeeman is strategically located in Maasdijk at the border of the Westland horticultural area and has a rich history since 1928. The company supplies greenhouse components, parts for ventilation mechanisms and screening installations or complete systems to agriculture and horticulture worldwide. Screens are used to adjust the amount and intensity of light and to control energy consumption with the aim of controlling the greenhouse climate as efficiently as possible. An accurate and sustainable ventilation system in combination with a moving screening system is an essential success factor for perfectly conditioning the climate in a greenhouse. Depending on the cultivation strategy, ventilation can take place with specific and accurate vent positions. Through a continuous process of research and product development, both technologies have been further optimised by Alumat Zeeman over the last decades. The automatic hail net system for the protection of outdoor crops from APS Holland is also part of the transaction.

BOAL Group and Alumat Zeeman are delighted to be able to jointly offer integrated solutions to the market. With BOAL's acquisition of Holland Group Westland and Westnederland, the expanded group is now even better positioned to serve its customers. In addition, efficiencies and economies of scale are achieved since both companies already operate under one roof in Maasdijk.

Ronald Boers, CEO of BOAL Group: “We are delighted to join forces with Alumat Zeeman. The company has a strong position in the market thanks to its unique qualities in supplying parts and complete systems for horticulture. In addition, we are proud of adding the experienced and talented colleagues to the larger BOAL team. We are convinced that together we can offer better solutions to our customers globally.”

Hans Zeeman, director of Alumat Zeeman: “For over 93 years, Alumat Zeeman has been able to adapt to the ever-changing developments of the market and society. We see that the international horticultural market is currently rapidly changing. In fact, the trend of internationalisation and upscaling is accelerating. In response to this trend, we are delighted to become part of the BOAL Group. This enables us to join forces and jointly realise our solid international growth plans faster and better.”
